On a Tuesday morning in late April, members of the Greenville Garden Club carpooled from First United Methodist and made their way out to Meyer's Greenhouse & Nursery in Nashville for a guided tour of the grounds — and it did not disappoint.
Meyer's has been a fixture in the Nashville, IL community since 1968, a family-owned operation that still grows many of its own plants. Walking through the greenhouses and outdoor nursery areas, it's easy to see why they've built such a loyal following over the decades. The selection is genuinely impressive — trees, shrubs, roses, and perennials sit alongside annuals, vegetable starts, garden décor, hardscape materials, and a full line of fertilizers and lawn care products.
Spring is a wonderful time to visit. The hanging baskets were full and colorful, the vegetable starts were healthy and ready for transplanting, and there was plenty to inspire anyone thinking about refreshing their landscape before summer arrives.
After the tour, members headed into Nashville for lunch at Bonnie's — a perfect cap to a morning well spent.
If you haven't visited Meyer's yet this season, it's well worth the trip. They're open year-round and welcome visitors from Greenville and all the surrounding communities. You can find them at 14711 W. St. Louis St. in Nashville, or give them a call at (618) 327-3712.
