More Than Just Gardening: A Night of Good Food and Great Company
There's something about a potluck that brings out the best in people. Dishes passed down from grandmothers, recipes clipped from magazines years ago, something new someone wanted to try — it all ends up on the same table, and nobody goes home hungry.
That was exactly the spirit at our spring potluck gathering. Members filled the room, plates filled the tables, and the conversation never slowed down.
Of course, gardening came up. It always does. People swapped notes on what they're putting in the ground this season, what survived the winter, what didn't, and what they're trying for the first time. There's a comfort in talking to people who understand why you spent twenty minutes deciding where to move a hosta.
But the night was just as much about everything else. Travel stories, grandkids, books, cooking, local history — the kinds of conversations that remind you a garden club is really just a good excuse for good people to keep showing up for each other.
That's what makes these evenings worth more than any program or speaker. The shared interest in growing things is what gets us in the door — but it's the friendships that keep us coming back.
Thanks to everyone who brought a dish, helped set up, and made the night what it was. See you at the next one.
